Stranded ship at Blouberg

I picked up Kimmi Stewart and headed to the stranded ship. It was raining but we got some good angles and Kimmi got the shots. The ship was getting hit by small swells and there is always a risk of an oil spill.

News.Iafrica.com reported the following

Cape Town conservation officials sealed off a section of Bloubergstrand to monitor the area for signs of spillage from a bulk carrier that has run aground. Salvage workers established a small leak developed in the hull of Seali-One. The vessel hit foul weather on Monday and was driven onto a sandbank just off Bloubergstrand in Table Bay.

Rescue crews braved the elements in and all 25 Turkish crewmen were airlifted to safety. With 600 tons of oil, 60 tons of steel and several hundreds more of coal on board, salvers cannot afford to waste any time. A helicopter will be dispatched to assess if there is a spillage but marine and coastal management along with Disaster Risk Management both said there appeared to be a small leak in the hull.
